“Impact selfies” can provoke wild longings from across the globe to explore, experience and enjoy the charms of the province adored as the “Heart of the Islands” that is “Truly Philippines” and highlighted this festival season as “One With the World.”

The contest is on to showcase creativity in capturing Bohol’s magnificent sceneries and rare attractions by taking on-site “selfies” or “groupies,” according to capitol’s Bohol Investment Promotion Center (BIPC).

The event organizer said expressive self-snapshots—with interesting spots in the backdrop—being uploaded on the social media like Facebook (fb), Instagram and Twitter are an ever-trending option to excite more travelers and visitors to Bohol.

The free-spirited photo contest, which is until July 26, is the first of its kind as an added Sandugo Festival lively feature like the unprecedented food spectacle dubbed the “International Fusion Cuisine Nights” starting on July 20 at Plaza Rizal.

The annual month-long Sandugo celebration is led for the first time this year by the province under Gov. Edgar Chatto in triumvirate with the Tagbilaran City leadership of Mayor John Geesnell Yap II and Provincial Tourism Council led by lawyer Lucas Nunag.

Selfies or groupies have to be uploaded on the “BoholSelfie” fb page only until July 26 and the grand winning entry gets P10,000. There are nine other winners.

A selfie is taken individually while a groupie is a group selfie.

An entry picture should show the contestant/s himself/herself/themselves with an arm extending in the photo shoot to prove that the image is self-taken, although using a monopod is also allowed.

There is no limit to the number of entries uploaded.

To be eligible to win, these steps are to be followed: Take a selfie or groupie by yourself using any digital camera or mobile phone; log in to your fb account; search the BoholSelfie page; and upload your photo.

The photo should have these in its caption: Contestant’s full name, contact number, address, unique entry title and unique story line.

An entry can be submitted thru Instagram or Twitter and shared via Facebook, particularly the BoholSelfie page.

The criteria for judging include the quality of the photo, originality, creativity and message of the photo, each allotted 25%.

The competition is open to all and there is no required age bracket to qualify, but filtering of photo may be allowed only if its quality, originality and identity are not altered.

Aside from the grand prize, up for grabs are cash prizes of P7,000 to the 1st runner-up; P5,000, 2nd runner-up; and 2,000 each, 4th-10th placers.

There are also freebies from sponsors.
